About Climate Ages

Hi, I’m Dr. Silvia Pineda-Munoz.

I’m a scientist-turned-communicator who believes that science should feel human, not distant.

Climate Ages grew out of my love for paleontology, conservation, ecology, and climate science—and my need to share them in a way that feels real, relevant, and deeply connected to our lives today.

After stepping away from academia, I found myself drawn to public science—writing stories that translate complex research into meaning. Medium lit that first spark. And as my writing reached more people, I realized: the past has a lot to say about our future. So I built a home for it here.

Today, Climate Ages explores the deep-time roots of today’s climate crisis, the fragility and resilience of ecosystems, and what ancient shifts can teach us about the decisions we face now. Along the way, I share behind-the-scenes reflections on my own path—from fieldwork to motherhood, burnout to rediscovery.

As my blog grew, so did a new purpose: helping others, especially scientists, find careers aligned with their values. That’s when I began creating courses—offering support, clarity, and community to those ready for change.

Because I believe science isn’t just for scientists.

It’s for anyone who’s ever asked: How did we get here?

And more importantly: Where do we go next?

Yours truly
Before kids, I used to travel a lot more, both for science and fun
